About me...
Hi there! I'm Bob Schellekens, born and raised in the city of 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. Growing up in this vibrant and historic town has shaped me in countless ways, instilling both a love for connection and a deep appreciation for solitude. While I thrive in social settings and love meeting new people, I also value quiet moments of reflection, when I can truly immerse myself in the things I’m passionate about.
Music has been a constant thread in my life. As the bassist of The Newks, I’ve experienced the unique joy of creating and performing music with others, composing songs as a means of expression. My passion for music extends beyond the stage; I’m an avid collector of vinyl records, finding something magical in the journey of finding treasured records and a sense of ownership. In addition, I'm inspired by the aesthetics of the 1960s and 1970s, this era, with its bold design, cultural revolutions, and timeless creativity, influences my style and how I approach my work.
My love for design is rooted in my academic journey. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, and as much as I appreciated the technical challenges, I longed for a space that focused more on creativity and emotional connections within the presented work. This resulted in me pursuing a master’s degree in Industrial Design at Eindhoven University of Technology, where I’ve been able to combine my technical expertise with my passion for creating richer, more personal experiences.
At the heart of everything I do whether it’s designing products, playing music, or simply connecting with others, is a desire to encourage self-expression and individuality. I believe that life is too rich and complex to be confined to external expectations or fleeting online trends. My journey has taught me to cherish the things that matter most to me, and I hope to inspire others to do the same: to embrace their true selves and live authentically.
